A bit of History
Over 125 years ago, Cloverdale was just a small farm town known for its fertile land and moderate climate. The Shannon brothers, one of the first settlers, named the town “Clover Valley” after the wild clover that grew everywhere at that time. The town boomed from the construction of the New Westminster-Southern Railway in 1891 that linked Bellingham to New Westminster.
Today the town is being enveloped by suburban sprawl from Surrey. It has become a great town for raising a family. Cloverdale hosts the annual rodeo, attracting more than 100,000 people over the 4 day long event. It has become the second largest rodeo next to Calgary Stampede. Its unique community and seductive charm was once the backdrop of a popular TV series,Smallvile.
