White Rock Real Estate
Real Estate in White Rock has transitioned from being a small cottage community to a suburban development with many multi million-dollar properties with breathtaking oceanfront views. The White Rock real estate boom in the mid-1990s attracted many young families and professionals to the area. Recently, there's been significant new developments in Uptown White Rock with medium-rise condos becoming more popular in the neighborhood. White Rock is still the preferred retirement spot due to the moderate weather. The City of White Rock was officially created by a special warrant from the Government of British Columbia on April 15, 1957. It was the result of residents feeling the isolation from the rest of Surrey where most of the development was being taken place at that time.
The famous white rock is best described in the legend version of the story. It was told that a young chief hurled a rock across the Strait of Georgia and where the rock landed that was where he and his bride would build a home. Their descendants became the Semiahmoo First Nation.
Two elementary schools: White Rock Elementary and Peace Arch Elementary School.
Residents have access to four secondary schools located in the neighboring South Surrey: Elgin Secondary, Semiahmoo Secondary, Earl Marriott and Southridge Secondary.
