A quiet and safe community, Fraser Heights is tucked away in the northeast section of Surrey. It has its distinct border bounded by Highway One to the south, 176th Avenue to the east and the Fraser River to the north. If you are looking for excellent schools for your children, Fraser Heights is the right neighborhood for you. Pacific Academy is a private Christian school that is ranked by the Fraser Institute in 2014 as 24 out of 289 British Colombian Secondary Schools. The school offers schooling for students from preschool to Grade 12. The school was the founder of Jim Pattison who donated a large sum of money to create the school. Besides it being one the most prestigious high schools in the province, the school has an outreach program across the globe that reaches community schools as far as Uganda.
Another great school is Fraser Heights Secondary. This public school has many students who do well academically. It has a new and unique program that integrates math and science classes at SFU as part of their curriculum. This allows students to take a condensed approach to Grade 11 and 12 that will allow them to take six university classes at SFU worth 20-post-secondary credits. Just around the school is a multi-million dollar sports complex, consisting of two full-size turf fields, eight tennis courts, the Fraser Heights Recreation Center and over 5 k of hiking trails.
And for the younger grades, there is Dogwood Elementary School which has extensive sport teams like volleyball, basketball, soccer and cross country as well as clubs like chess, stitching and skipping.
Your Shopping Experience
Residents pride in the fact that their neighborhood is a quiet, un-commercialized part of Surrey, unlike the downtown core. Big-box stores are nowhere to be found here. But, they’re easily accessible if you like to shop there. Just hop on the freeway and go over to Langley. Guildford Mall is only a few minutes away and you’re also close to the border. With the new South Fraser Perimeter Road built, you are much closer to the ferries.
